Our clients, a young professional couple with two active boys embarked on a journey to transform their “forever” home from builder-basic to something more layered and functional. They had already invested in a striking stone fireplace but were otherwise left with a blank canvas. To make the most of the double-height foyer ceiling, we added simple wall molding and more appropriately scaled lighting. We introduced whimsical wallpaper and a floor runner to add warmth to the staircase. Recognizing their penchant for hosting large gatherings, we set out to maximize seating capacity in the family room, which was longer than it was wider. We divided it into two distinct areas, one for reading and the other for watching TV. The use of swivel chairs in the reading section allowed for seamless transitions, accommodating more guests effortlessly. Custom millwork was designed and installed to house reading materials and cherished memorabilia. Throughout the entire home, different shades of their favorite color, blue, punctuated each room, creating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere that truly reflected their unique style and needs.
